It all started in the great outdoors…

Nature is a place that speaks powerfully to how life works. Counselling as a journey to a summit is an image that deeply resonates with many people.

Hiking on a mountain is thrilling, risky, and full of ups and downs. Successfully scaling a slope requires preparation, knowledge and endurance. Pictured above is a 1 metre wide, drop off on either side, ridge line. This is terrifying for most people to walk even for a short time. Now, imagine an entire hour of breath-taking views, careful vigilant steps, and the huge amount of trust that is need to reach that far off summit. Trust in your own abilities. Trust in the work you’ve put in up to this moment. Trust in the person guiding you. As trust happens in the areas, there comes a confidence that success is possible as others have gone before. There is also a confidence that comes from trust in a guide competent to lead through terrifying and treacherous passages.

This journey to the top, is not unlike one you embark on with a counsellor. The mountains of stress, discouragement, compulsion, broken relationship, conflict etc may include some dangerous and terrifying passages. When you set out with a Ridgeline therapist, you can rest in the knowledge that people have made this journey before you. You can put faith in a guide who has walked with others along this journey and you can begin to believe that you can be capable of reaching your goals in a safe space.
